Stickyboard
How to use Stickyboard
Short, practical walkthroughs. If something here is out of date or unclear, tell me at petritavd@gmail.com.
1. Install the Chrome extension
Turn every new browser tab into your board.
- Open the Stickyboard listing on the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Add to Chrome, then confirm.
- Open a new tab. Stickyboard loads automatically. Sign in once and your board is there every time you open a tab.
Why it helps: you see your board 30+ times a day without opening anything, so nothing quietly falls off your list.
2. Create your first board
A board is one wall of notes, usually one per project.
- Open Stickyboard on the web or in a new tab and sign in with your email.
- You start with a board and three columns: To do, Doing, and Done.
- To add another board, use the + next to the board pills at the bottom. Give it a name and a colour.
- Switch boards any time by clicking the coloured pills.
3. Add and move notes
The whole app is really just this.
- Click + new note (or click a column title to add one right there). Type a title, and a description if you want one.
- Drag a note between columns as it moves from To do to Doing to Done.
- Click a note to open it, where you can edit it, change its colour, or send it to the bin.
- Drag a note to the bin to clear it. It is recoverable, not deleted.
Tip: press Esc to close a note, and drag the corner pills to reorder boards.
4. Sketch a note
Sometimes a drawing says it faster than text.
- Click the pen icon next to + new note.
- A full-screen canvas opens with a pen, eraser, highlighter, shapes (line, rectangle, circle, arrow), a custom colour picker, and paper patterns.
- Draw what you need, then save it. It becomes a note on your board.
6. Install the Mac app
Keep your board one click away in the menu bar.
- Download the app from stickyboard.dev/Stickyboard.dmg.
- Open the downloaded file and drag Stickyboard into Applications.
- Launch it. Stickyboard lives in your menu bar; click its icon and your board drops down.
Note: the Mac app is built for Apple Silicon and is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without security warnings.
7. Install it on your phone
Run Stickyboard full-screen, like a native app.
- Open stickyboard.dev in your phone's browser.
- On iPhone, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, tap the menu → Install app.
- Open it from your home screen. It runs full-screen and remembers your last board.
8. Set a password
Optional, for faster logins than the email code.
- Open the account menu → settings.
- Find the password option and set one.
- Next time you sign in, type your password instead of waiting for a code. The email-code login still works if you ever forget it.
